Saigon Local Food

Banh canh ghe : Tapioka noodle with whole boiled crab.

PHAN XÍCH LONG street in Phú Nhuận district is regarded as a local place but it is not so far from the center of the city. Actually it is just 2 to 3 km and you can reach there easily with bike. Many fancy restaurants or cafe including Starbucks are opened here and attract young Vietnamese. Ba Sach is a noodle restaurant specializing in Banh canh ghe, tapioka noodles with whole crab. I love this noodle and it is similar to Japanese Udon. The taste is totally light, mellow, and a little bit unsatisfactory unless you put in a spicy chili, but the soup is good with crab appearing in the

Cháo: Rice porridge with grilled squid scent Quán Cháo Mực 10

I’ve been come to this restaurant before and introduced Bánh Canh Giò Heo although my intention was to eat rice porridge. Today I left my room early to eat rice porridge. As it is also in the store name Quán Cháo, it is originally a porridge shop, but it seems to be over when the stock stocked in the morning runs out. Banh Mi : Kebab style banh mi on street in Saigon – Bánh Mì Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ Minh Tuấn

My office used be close to this stall and I sometimes brought back some to my room late in night. Almost after a year, I came to this place again tonight and the shop owner surprisingly remembered me. (He don’t speak English) Kebab is popular also in Saigon but it is still banh mi. You can choose pita bread if you like but I prefer banh mi more. CMT8 is a busy street in Saigon and many customers are coming to this stall riding on bikes. Yes this is a drive through stall. It’s a light snack but tasty enough. Actually many banh mi are chili in Vietnam but sometime

Phở Quỳnh is located at the corner of Phạm Ngũ Lão street and easy to find out. Many foreigners are walking on the street and this pho restaurant is also full of tourists. In my blog, I want to introduce only really tasty local food and in my standard, this restaurant is not bad nor good. Yes, so so. But the pricing is around 60,000 VND and it is rather expensive with the local standard. However, since many foreing tourists are here and the restaurant know how to handle foreign customers, I recommend this restaurant if you travel alone. The taste is normal. Not bad not good. But expensive. If

But you have to travel with 3.5 hours bus ride from the city to reach there.
